The 30 Day Product Challenge- Ready, Set, CREATE!

Posted in eBooks, entrepreneurs by Kevin Douglas

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

If you’ve been following the blog, you know that starting today, I’m hosting a 30 Day Product Challenge.  What that means is that if you create something, like say a ebook, manifesto, or anything between today and December 15th, I want to feature you in a post.

If you want to be featured in the post, just send me a message on my contact page here.  In your message, include your name, short description of your product and a link to where people can download it.

Couple of my friends like Pawel Grabowski, Thomas Sinfield and David Shaw are already in.

I’m really excited to see what people are going to come up with for this.  The initial idea for this came about when I was writing a post about my ebook.  And then I figured I would encourage and challenge others to do the same thing.  Especially for people who have never committed to creating a product before.

Why Only 30 Days?

I wanted to keep it a simple 30 days so there wouldn’t be any added pressure to create something like a full blown software program or 12 part series (which you absolutely can, if you like! ;) ).  But I just wanted people to create something that wouldn’t take an exorbitant amount of time to produce.  I chose an ebook because I think it’s do-able. It won’t be a 50 or 60 pager, but I hope it’s enough to satisfy folks who can really use it.  30 days is just enough time to think of an idea, plan and draft it and create it.

This is my first attempt at trying to create a project bigger than an iPhone app, so  go easy on me.  :D

Because of the holidays are this time, I will compile all the entries into one (hopefully) gigantic post after the first of the year.  I want to start off 2011 with a bang.  And with this project, we ALL can start with a bang.

What Do I Win  for Participating?

There aren’t any prizes, sweet cheeks!  But, you do get the satisfaction of knowing that you pushed yourself to create something.  And hopefully, this will get the juices flowing so that you will create more products!  I call that a “win-win”! ( Yeah, I came up with that all by myself.)

If you’re intrigued by this project but don’t want to participate, hit me up on Twitter to show your support.

Oh yeah……..GO!

Schools out for me, so I'm heading straight into the projects. I've probably got about 5 going no -so the will certainly keep me busy.

Awesome, Peter. Can't wait to see what you create, man.

Awesome idea Kevin!
I am already doing way too much, but seeing as my niche site challenge is eventually going to be a product, I gues I am kind of on board. Gonna take me longer than thirty days though LOL.
You are an ideas man Kev. Almost uncanny it is :)

Hey Kevin, what an awesome idea!

I'm going away in just over a week so I won't be able to start on any new products until I'm back. I figure the new year is a great time to embark on a new project, so I'll start creating a product then!

Loving your blog design btw

Thanks, Jay! I think we were thinking on the same wavelength in regards to creating a product. Let me know when you do create your product cause I still want to feature you in the challenge.

Hey Kevin,

This is a great idea! I'm up on a project not but trying to make time for it as I have a full time job. Nice way to encourage your readers to do something.

Thanks Bryan! I'm really surprised and humbled by the response from people. It's really great that people are taking the challenge.

Great idea! I'm creating a new website from scratch. Should consume most of my time.

Met you via blogchat. Great blog you have here. I'm a fan.

Thanks Jason! Good luck on your new site! Let me know how it goes for you. :)

I am launching a new advertising company at the start of December! Fingers Crossed.

I am happy to give everyone who gets involved with Kevin's 30 day challenge a silver membership for 6 months. (Means you earn better rates.) So long as Kevin does not mind.

Will all make a bit more sense once it is launched.

Hey Kevin,

Awesome how many people are doing it, I really wish I could, school is just so time consuming... Looking really good here :)

Thanks for the support, Ben! This project is turning out better than I imagined. Too bad you can't join in, but school comes first! :)

Hi Kevin,
I'm going to give this a shot. It's a bit busy at work, but I have the holidays to work on this side project. I'll see what I can do! This was a great idea BTW.

That would be awesome, Rich. I'm sure you can knock out a quick mini-guide or manifesto in that time. Thanks for joining in the fun.

Hi Kevin, saw this at Murlu's blog and just have to check it out. For some time now I've been thinking of putting together a freebie but have never brought myself to doing it. Take up this challenge? A part of me is saying go take it up but another part is struggling because of the many other commitments for the remaining part of this month. Ok, will give it the next few hours and take a decision on this. Will get back tomorrow with my decision.

Damn, Moon just hit the finish line. That was quick! Since I was already planning on coming out with a product within the next 30 days certainly count me in!

Awesome, Steve! Can't wait and glad you're onboard! Yeah, Moon beat us to the punch with an amazing product!

Steve,

I've been working behind-the-scenes for a while. It'll be fun for me to think of new ebook or product ideas for the next month though...

hmm..... are you on Skype by chance?

Yup. Definitely on this one! I'm freaking psyched. I love creating stuff!

I'll be making 2 Thesis theme skins, one free and one to sell. I'm still not sure about when I'll release the one for sale, but they'll both be done in a month and the free one will definitely be available by then.

Oh, and I'll be creating an ebook or two to package with the for-sale skin.

Man, Tristan. You're going all out by doing a Thesis skin. If I could code, I would've probably done something like that. That's awesome. Can't wait to see it.

Kevin!

I'm so on this man - I actually had a post queued up that was going to touch on these same items - was calling it 'blackout week'.

Dude, this.is.on! Already got everything planned out, cleared up all of my schedule and cut back on information so I've got the time - I'm taking the challenge :P

Do we have any system setup so we can track a bit of the process? Maybe we all can do Skype once a week.

That sounds like a plan, M. If anyone else wants to join in on a Skype chat a few times during the challenge, you can find me at "UncannyKev". If we get a nice size group, we can create a group.

Thanks for the suggestion, M and glad you freed up some time to join in! WOOT!

I like the idea of a Skype chat..

I like the sound of a Skype chat..

I have added yo Kev.

Got it Dave! I think I may create a Skype group tonight on your suggestion and all those that want to join, we can add to the group.

Kevin,

This is a great idea. I am in the beginning stages of creating a life planning for small business owners workbook. I think that I can finish this in thirty days. Now I have a challenge!!

Awesome, Fred! Glad you're in, buddy! :)
